Minnesota State and the University of Minnesota are leading a collaboration to reimagine nursing education and address the growing shortage of nurses in Minnesota. The Center for Nursing Equity and Excellence (CNEE) works with every school of nursing in the state, health care providers and others invested in improving health care in Minnesota to increase enrollment in nurse education programs at all degree levels, expand equity in the nursing workforce, and increase the success of nursing students.

Impact

  • Nursing programs cannot find enough faculty.
  • Healthcare systems are paying top dollar for nurses, taking away funds for increasing care.
  • Nursing workforce lacks diversity which is contributing to health inequities.
  • Clinical sites cannot take more students, barring increases in program enrollment.
